Skype Interview

This is my Skype interview with Frank Cope. He is a Junior at the University of West Florida in pensacola. He plays soccer for the Argos and the interview was about his season.

1. Tell me a little about your history at UWF?
--Well, I was recruited to play for them by my Coach, Bill Elliot. At first I was a little unsure of the school, but it has grown on me. The soccer has been really good as we have a great program and have won our conference for the past 5 years now. The school has a lot of foreign people and that has also been very neat  to experience. I have made many new friends that I never imagined I would have made if it wasn't for soccer.

2. So I heard your team went on a cruise for preseason?
--It wasn't really our preseason but it was a chance to get some training in the summer. It was a lot of fun and there were a lot of team bonding activities. We also had the chance to get some really good training for the season. We went to Jamaica, Haiti, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. In each location, we either played the national team or had a session with a team from there. It was a lot of fun and it was a great experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.

3. How did your team do this past season?
--We had a really good season. We went 15-4-2 before the national tournament and won our conference for the fifth straight season. This was my third time to win a conference championship since I am a junior this season. Our team made the national tournament and had to play Rollins in the first round in Orlando. Rollins has a very good program and defeated us by a score of 1-0.  They ended up making the national championship and lost this past weekend.

4. Well I heard you had a good season, did you receive any awards?
--I actually started all of the games the past two seasons but this year was pretty special. I received many different acknowledgments. I was an honorable mention All-American, first team All-South Region, Unanimous first team All-Conference, GSC All Tournament Team, and I was 7th in the nation for assists.

5. Well that's very exciting! What are your expectations for the next season?
--The team will be bringing back most of the starters so I'm hoping my senior season will yield a national championship but you never know. I'm very excited and can't wait to see who the coach brings in to help us. Either way, we should have a very good team next season.

Ok well thank you so much for your time and I wish your team the best of luck for next season!!
--Thanks a lot and I hope you receive an A on your interview.

Final Post for PLN

The above image is a screenshot of my Personal Learning Network. For my PLN I have added a variety of websites. In the bottom left corner I have my blog, the class blog, Skype, a few videos we watched for our blogs, as well as some websites I was able to watch through this EDM310 class. In the bottom right corner I have added more of my entertainment section. This section includes websites such as twitter, itunes, pandora, apple, and my horoscope. I also have all of my email accounts (Gmail, AOL, Jaguar Main) and USA homepage. In the top right corner I have some of my personal websites. I really love having my PLN because it is so convenient. I created it using Symbaloo which is so easy to use because I can easily delete and add different websites as I find them.

Summary for C4T

For my C4T 4 the teacher I was assigned was Beth Still. For the first post, titled "Teaching Kids in Poverty", I commented on she talked about teaching children who were "at risk" or in poverty. This post really caught my attention because she said it takes a special person to do this. I agree with her completely because I know I want to teach children and help children, but I'm not sure I would be the right person to teach those kids. I think these children need inspirational people to teach them and that's exactly what Beth Still is. She's an inspirer and helps these kids to be successful.
For the second post, titled "Adjustments Lead to Major Improvements" I read by Beth Still she talked about how so many students failed to finsih their final project for her class and in turn failed this class. She didn't blame her students for this, she realized they had other issues to deal with in their home life so she changed the way it is done. She decided to take it step by step day by day and do it through the year reather than all at once. She went to great lengths to help these students and I think it's awesome. I'm sure these students will one day appreciate her if they don't already.
